Policies and Procedures

  1. Visits are 20 -40 minutes long. Longer visits can be accommodated upon request for an extra fee.
  2.  One visit a day minimum is required for cats.  Three visits a day minimum for dogs.  Exception is puppies younger than a year old will require minimum 4 visits a day and dogs that stay in crates will require a minimum of 4 visits a day.  And kittens younger than 9 months old will require 2 visits a day.
  3. No job sharing with other people (such as neighbors, family members, etc.) unless approved by Donna Harke.
  4. Visits are between 6:30 am and 9:30 pm. If a visit outside of these times is needed, there will be an extra charge of $10 added to each visit.
  5. Payment for service is due within 2 days of return from trip when paying online.  If payment is not received within 2 days of end of service, a 3% late fee will be added.  If paying by check or cash, payment must be left before you leave for your trip.
  6. Business hours are 7 am to 5 pm Monday to Saturday and 7 am to 12 pm on Sunday. If you call or text outside of those times, we will get back to you within 24 hours. The exception, of course, is when we are petsitting for your pet and texting with updates.
  7. We have a very strict cancellation policy:
    • Cancellation of daily dog walks must be done before 5 pm for the next day. If you cancel after 5 pm, you will be charged the full price of the walk.
    • If you cancel the daily dog walks more than 2 times in a month, the next cancellation (or the third and any after) will be charged a cancellation fee of half the price of a visit.
    • A minimum of 7 days prior to leaving for canceling petsitting visits.
    • A minimum of 14 days prior to leaving for canceling petsitting for the 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
    • There are no refunds for cancellations. Credit only.
  1. For booking dog walking and petsitting visits:
    • 24 to 48 hours notice for walking your dog to ensure spot during midday.
    • 14 days’ notice for booking petsitting visits for when you go out of town.
    • 30 days notice for booking petsitting visits for major holidays. This includes the 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
  1. Initial meet and greets are always at no charge. If another meet and greet is needed for whatever reason such as new pet, moved, key pick up, then there will be a charge of $15.
  2. There will be an extra $5 fee for each visit for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Easter, Memorial weekend and Labor Day weekend. For Thanksgiving, it will be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. For Christmas, it will be the 24th, 25th, and 26th.  And for New Years, it will be 31st and 1st.  **This is for when there is staff and they take the time out from their families to make visits.
  3. We use the petsitting software called Time to Pet.  After the initial connection, you will be emailed an invite to fill out TTP.  Visits can not begin until a meet and greet has been done and Time to Pet has been filled out.
  4. Let us know when you are back from your trip. We want to make sure that your pets are safe and taken care of.
  5. There will be no exact time for visits but we will make the visits within the specific time frame that you requested.
  6. Please provide Comfy Critters with 2 options for entrance to your house. It can be a coded door or garage and a key, it can be 2 keys, it can be 2 keys with one hidden somewhere around the outside of the house.
  7. In order to be conscientious of your sitter’s and your pet’s safety, please adhere to requests. For example, purchasing harnesses or regular leashes.
  8. It may be required to make a visit before you leave to see how medication is given to your specific pet. There is a $15 fee for this extra meet and greet.
  9. Pictures of your pets may be used for social media so please let us know if this is not okay.
  10.  Please make sure to have an emergency contact that is NOT your spouse. This emergency contact is for me if something happens to me and I cannot get to your house. It is a person, friend, neighbor, family member who is not going with you on your trip, who I can call on in case I have an emergency. I want to make sure that your pets are taken care of!
